Notes Il résulte d'une lettre de M. le Gouverneur et Administrateur de la Martinique [Donzelot], en date du 15 mars 1822, que la corvette la Sapho, bâtiment du roi, a capturé le 8 février 1822, un bâtiment négrier nommé l' Amélie du port de Saint-Pierre. Ce bâtiment chargé de noirs était en si mauvais état que le commandant de la Sapho a été obligé de le faire couler après avoir recueilli l'équipage et les noirs à son bord... Une procédure vient d'être dirigée contre les armateurs et le capitaine. Le gouvernement de la Martinique avait été spécialement autorisé par le Ministre de la Marine à faire diriger sur Cayenne un certain nombre des noirs capturés sur l'Amélie".
