Notes | An increased activity in the slave trade is largely due to the facilities afforded by a more liberal grant of the French flag, to Oman Dhows trading with the west coast of Africa; and not only has the flag appeared more frequently in Sur, but it has been seen also over buglahs of the Batineh coast. Several minor slave transactions of a local and unimportant character came to light. An attempt at re-enslavement of a liberated slave on the Persian coast was reported, he was recovered after some months at Lingah, and handed over to the Commander of the H. M. S. Sphinx. |
