Notes | Le premier enfant racheté en Afrique du Nord par les missionaries d'Alger le fut par le Felix Charmetant lors d'une tournée au Mzab en 1872. C'était un garçon de dix ans originaire du Haossa… La nouvelle Société de missionaires commençait à peine à se former et Charmetant, un de ses permiers membres, devait se rendre en France pour faire connaître son existence et son but. A cet effet il emmenait avec lui Messaoud, son jeune pupille, comme preuve vivante de l'état d'esclavage encore existant dans l'interieur du contintent africain. |
