Notes | 132 males and 20 females. 152 in all captured by H. M. S. Orpheus, Hugh Piggott Esquire Commander on board the Spanish Schooner Louisa, Augustine Samolte master from the coast of Africa, condemned in the Vice Admiralty Court at Barbados and received by the collector of customs here on the 25 April 1812. The above is the only instance of any captured African being brought into this Port. 80 males were selected and sent to Barbados in the service. 3 females accompanied the recruits. 10 died shortly after their arrival. 56 apprenticed. |
