Year 1864
Government Department Ministério do Ultramar, Reino de Portugal
Court Junta Protetora dos Escravos e Libertos, Luanda

Notes The local Junta Protetora dos Escravos e Libertos intervened in “freeing” but 308 slaves (195 males and 113 females) throughout its fi first ten years of operation. The data total in this row subtracts the total of 308 from the 1864 return from the 113 people registered between 1854 and 1858; thus there were upwards of 194 people liberated by the Junta between 1859 and 1864.
