Notes Le chasseur HMS Primrose commandé par Stoddart, poursuit le négrier pendant cinq heures, avant que ce dernier ne hisse les couleurs françaises. Il fait la preuve de sa nationalité, de la légitimité de son équipage et de ses papiers. Les capteurs escortent le bâtiment vers la Jamaïque. Là, l'amiral Halstad décide, après onze jours de détention, de le relâcher, en restituant les provisions, l'eau et les nègres. Le navire est escorté hors des eaux de la Jamaïque. Il se rend à Cuba, où les Noirs sont débarqu´s. Ce comportement des autorités anglaises est dicté par les ordres réitérés de Londres s'opposant à la saisie des négriers français. Néanmoins, le 4 janvier 1826, le navire Les Deux Nantais est condamné, confisqué - en droit -, sa cargaison saisie, toujours en droit, et le capitaine Mahé interdit, en fait. Ogereau, l'armateur, est condamné aux dépens. Ce jugement est immédiatement annoncé au Foreign Office.
