| Notes | Le gouvernement britannique désavoue la conduite du croiseur de répression. En juillet 1819, il est conseillé au gouverneur de Sierra Leone, sir Charles McCarthy, de se débarrasser au plus vite de la capture en la convoyant hors "les limites de votre gouvernement" et en la remettant aux autorités de l'établissement français le plus proche. Théoriquement, ce devrait être Gorée. Or, le navire arrive au cap de Bonne-Espérance où il est vendu par les autorités anglaises. Il est vraisemblable qu'après avoir été conduit à Bourbon, en janvier 1820, le bâtiment ait été repris par un autre bateau de la croisière de répression britannique, ce qui justifierait un nouveau procés, une nouvelle condamnation et la vente. D'ailleurs, Londres récuse nouveau le comportement de la vice-amirauté du Cap, et pense qu'il serait préférable de restituer l'argent de la vente aux propriétaires du navire. |
