Notes Il se réfugièrent au Bukumbi qui avait déjà servi et où la station avait été maintenue après l'abandon de Buganada en 1882, et où la station avait été maintenue après le retour dans ce pays en 1885. Elle avait été fondée avec le noyay de rachetés venus du nord et, bien que l'esclavage n'existât pas dans la région, le nombre en fut vite augmenté car c'était un point de passage de caravanes, proche du poste arabe de Kagéhi. En 1888, l'effectif se montait à une centaine, comprenant des garçons rassemblés en orphelinat, des filles confiées à des familles chrétiennes, et huit ménages établis aux abords immédiats de la mission.
