Notes Les rachats s'opérèrent, portant sur des enfants et quelques jeunes gens moins de neuf ans, amis leur nombre n'augmenta que lentement, oscilla par suite de fuites ou de renvois, et n'exceda pas la quarantaine. En 1882, les missionaires quitaient le Buganda pour le sud du lac Civtoria avec le plupart de leurs rachetés. En quittant le Buganda en 1882, les missionaires emmenaient avec eux trente-quatres enfants et jeunes hommes. Ils se divisèrent en deux groupes. L'un fondait un nouveau poste au Bukumbi, sur la rive sud du lac. L'autre poursuivait plus loin jusqu'à Tabora.
