Notes A Houssa came in yesterday from Berracoe, a village on the beach, one day's journey from this place, in the district of Cape Coast Castle… He reported that he was placed in irons by his master, one Bochay, to prevent him from joining the Houssa force, and that a great many more Houssas in the immediate neighbourhood of Berracoe were, for the same reason, chained by their masters.
